IS VIKTOH YBNL'S ARTISTE A REJECTED ONE IN THE RECORD LABEL

In terms of hits churned out by artistes, YBNL may well be
one of the foremost record labels in the country at the
moment.
Many of its signees are currently topping charts. As a
matter of fact, it would be safe to say that when YBNL
sneezes, the whole music industry catches cold; a case in
reference is the Headies saga of January 2016 when
Olamide practically shut down the event when his protégé,
Lil Kesh, lost out on the Next Rated category of the
awards.
However, while some of YBNL’s acts are soaring and
shining, the same cannot be said of one of the label’s first
signees, Viktoh.
An avid observer would note that Viktoh doesn’t have a
respectable hit to his name. Meanwhile, Lil Kesh who he
introduced to his label boss, Olamide, is already regarded
as a heavyweight of sorts in the industry.
Some of Viktoh’s songs which failed to attract mainstream
attention include ‘Skibbii That,’ ‘Instagram Police,’ ‘Say
Them Say’ among others.
However, some people have attributed Viktoh’s slow
career growth to Olamide. According to this school of
thought, Olamide doesn’t give Viktoh the desired attention
unlike Lil Kesh and Adekunle Gold.
According to a source who is close to the YBNL crew, even
though Olamide is a liberal boss who gives all his artistes
the chance to fly, he seems to have a softer spot for Gold,
Lil Kesh and the new YBNL princess, Temmie Ovwasa.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, the source
opined, “To be sincere with you, Olamide is a very liberal
boss who is after the success of all his artistes. But if you
consider the way Olamide is always shouting the name of
Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold and Temmie in his songs and
Instagram posts, you will realize it seems he doesn’t give
the same attention to Viktoh. Though Viktoh should also
up his game in terms of the kind of songs he puts out,
YBNL should also pay more attention to him.”
Meanwhile, another artiste that isn’t getting the desired
attention in YBNL is Chinco Ekun, but sources claim that
his education is what is taking the front burner in his life
right now, and that’s why he’s not so visible on the music
scene.
With Lil Kesh and Adekunle Gold hinting that they would
soon be floating their own record labels, perhaps, Viktoh’s
‘condition’ will improve. Remember, former YBNL signee,
Zino also complained of neglect. It should be noted that Lil
Kesh has left YBNL but he is still under their management.
